White Level Test (Clipping) Instructions:

This test is extremely bright, so you may wish to do this test in normal lighting environments, or use smaller window sizes to make this test more comfortable to adjust with

  1. The purpose of this test pattern is to help you adjust your display settings until you barely can see moving white squares on nearly-white backgrounds. They're RGB(254,254,254) versus RGB(255,255,255) during 8bit mode.
  2. Adjust your display's picture settings (Black Levels, Contrast, Brightness) until all three conditions meet:
    • Row #1: You can barely see blocks containing numbers simultaneously.
    • Row #2: You can barely see the moving white blocks on near-white.
    • Row #3: You can barely see the moving near-white blocks on white background.
    • Row #4: You can barely see a gap between 2 stationary blocks with a gap in between.

This test also has a black level mode (PLUGE), for calibrating your black level clipping. Calibrate both black levels and white levels, to maximize your brightness gamut in sRGB (SDR) mode. This test is currently designd for the Adobe sRGB subset of your colorspace.

Note about Guide Outlines Feature Upon Click/Tap

You can click/tap the screen to see square boundaries briefly appear; these are simply guide lines to let you know where they are on the screen. The guide lines are there to assist you in locating difficult-to-find rectangles, and are not part of the calibration.
